About Us
Who We Are and What Our Mission Is
Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is home to four campus gardens which are located at our Taylorsville Redwood, South City, Jordan, and Miller campuses. These gardens are here to teach students, faculty, and staff about sustainable gardening practices and to empower them to grow their own fresh produce for both themselves and the SLCC community. We believe that all people are entitled to healthy food regardless of socioeconomic status and other personal circumstances. Increasing access to this food is key to enabling people to thrive as they reach for their dreams. We also offer hands-on service-learning to teach students about important issues regarding the food system. This allows them to have valuable experiences and to become more knowledgeable in areas that they may otherwise not be exposed to. We see the gardens as an opportunity to create a community around a common interest and bring people together in a relaxing and unique space.
