For me, understanding the choices we make and seeing the impact it has on the environment is our greatest allegation. As kids, we are always taught the importance of recycling although I believe there is a disconnection between our action and not actually
seeing the impact since we are located in a landlocked State. During Earth day I think its the perfect time to reflect the impact we have on the environment, especially ocean life. It's also a great opportunity to learn more about the ocean and how to preserve it. from the biodiversity found beneath its surface to how our everyday actions impact the
vast amounts of creatures and habitats. I decide to address plastic pollution by creating sculpture of a sea turtle composed of plastic bags/bottles since those items tend to be more frequently dispose of than anything else. In the ocean, Plastic debris kills and injures sea life. Ocean plastic pollution has impacted at least 267 species worldwide,
including 86% of all sea turtle species, 44% of all seabird species and 43% of all marine mammal species. The impacts include fatalities as a result of starvation, ingestion, suffocation, infection, drowning, and entanglement. The reason I created this sculpture. was to raise awareness and promote sustainability by showing how much human waste
affects the ocean and its ecosystem.
